We have decided that it would be a great idea to keep everyone up to date via a blog. This will allow you to follow the progress of Cornerstone, as we take a leap into 2018.
For those of you new to the site, or new to Cornerstone as a whole, let me fill you in. My name is Alyssa, I am the founder and owner of Cornerstone Coffee and Cafe. My vision started back in high school with The Lord placed it on my heart to take a stand in a fight against human trafficking. The desire to take a stand didn't go away as I ventured into college, it eventually led me to pursue my Business Degree with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. With lots of prayer, and patience I finally knew what I was going to do.
Thankfully, my love for coffee came into play as I continued to brainstorm on how I could possibly make this all work. You see, I saw the need for a "next step" for the lives of these precious women. My brain wouldn't shut off as I thought about, "what happens to these women after they have been rescued?" "Where do they go?" "What do they do with their lives?"
This is where it began. With the help of my professor (who is now a member of our board of directors) I was able to write a business plan and get the idea for Cornerstone up and running. This was October 2016. I wanted to be a safe place, a place for these women to get back up on their feet. To be able to provide a place for them to come and be loved, and to have the opportunity to start over. Not only a place for them, but a place for the community. For awareness on human trafficking to be raised, for a place where people can come together and gather for a cause greater than ourselves. A place for refuge and restoration for anyone and everyone.
So now we are here, just over a year later. Ready to take on 2018. So journey with us, take a stand, pray for us, and stay up to date on just what is happening with Cornerstone Coffee and Cafe.
God Bless and Happy New Year,
Isaiah 43:19 "Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert"
